Our trip to Jurong Bird Park

It was definitely an eye-opening and exciting experience for all of us.
We were geared up early morning to be Ornithologists for the day. Despite the gloomy dark skies in the morning, we were optimistic that the birds will be there to greet us.

Miss Raudha has showed us the Jurong Bird Park map online, days before, but today, we get to use the park maps to navigate around.

We discovered that our friends Reese and Yue Yang were good map-readers; and Ashley, having been to JBP recently, gave us "anticipative" insights on what's coming up. As for the rest of us, we were on the look out for the birds that we have been learning about, for the past few weeks.

Our first stop: The Talking Birds attraction. There were Mynahs and Cuckatoos. Each of them has a name, and the signs explained that some of them can say simple words like "hello" and "bye-bye".

Miss Raudha gave us copies of park maps. We were at the Royal Ramble when we spotted the Crown-Headed Pigeon. Referring back to the map, we knew then, where we were and how to go to our next destination- The Pools Amphiteatre for the Birds 'N' Buddies show.

We were seated right at the top, getting the bird-eye view of the show. Nothing should be missed!

In the tram ride from the Waterfall Station to the Main Station. We saw lots of Water Birds or also known as Wading Birds.

While at the Dino-Birds/ Flightless Birds attractions, we saw this. We used brushes to carefully brush away sand to discover dino-fossils. Interesting! We learned that scientists who study about dinosaurs are called Palaentologists.

Ostriches and eggs! The one in front is the mummy ostrich who were sitting on the eggs to incubate them. The one with the thicker feathers is the father ostrich.

Very tired. We shall talk about it more next week.... *zzzzzz*

Birds Buddies going to Jurong Bird Park!

We are going to Jurong Bird Park on Friday, 22nd August 2008.
Miss Raudha had been receiving the registrations. She hopes that everyone would participate in this trip, because she mentioned something about "site investigation" and we will be the investigators.

Sounds important. We must go.

As for the 3D Bird Craft, Miss Raudha would like to share with you some websites that give ideas on 3D Birds.

We hoped to make colourful and creative 3D craft birds, so that they will be displayed in our school's very own Bird Sanctuary on the week of Aug 25th.

National Day Performance @ TP Auditorium

We were all SET to perform for the National Day Celebration @ TP Auditorium. Our budding stars, standing (L-R): Ashley, Reese, Venice, Wenkang, Phoebe, Nathan. Sitting (L-R): Glenn, Jue Ning, Yue Yang and Miss Raudha sitting in for the very talented Elizabeth, who was not well that day :(

Teacher Dila and a parent-volunteer dolling up the dancers. Very common to hear this from the girls: "I don't have anymore lipstick. Can you put on some more?"

Superstars waiting for their "limousines"???!!?! Hahaha. The photographer has missed snapping away moments when the children were excited to sit in either Jue Ning's, Reese' or Ashley's car.
It was a short joyful ride! Unforgettable.

Onstage!!
Amethysts, together with other peers, have made Learning Vision @ Temasek Polytechnic proud. Thank you children!

We had Mummy Irene, Reese' mum in red and white too!!!
That's the spirit.
